To keep you connected during the good, bad, and messy moments of life.

I started designing cards after my husband's cancer diagnosis in 2017. I wanted to create cards that used our motto, "laughter is the best medicine" to support the cancer community. My business, Better + Co., grew to include cards for all seasons and became Five Dot Post in 2021.

A portion of all profits is given to esophageal cancer research.

Our designs are relatable, funny, and just hit differently. We use high-quality materials that let your recipients know you care.

When Tommy had to have radiation for the first time in 2017, he had to get five tattoo dots on his chest for the procedure. I thought it was only fair for me to have to get five tattoo dots too. The five dots on my arm have since been a daily reminder that although Tommy is the one in treatment, this is our fight. When I started my second card shop a few years back, I didn't know what it might become one day, but I knew I wanted to build in upon deep love, support, and connection, thus, Five Dot Post was born.

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jessica Walker and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jessica, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I never had plans to become an entrepreneur. 52 days after our wedding, my husband was diagnosed with cancer. (cont.)

A maker and retailer that offers gifts and support for cancer fighters, caregivers and survivors.

With so many retailers and makers facing similar challenges right now, we encourage you to Share Your Story so we may share your story and help other independent retailers and creators in the industry.

Jessica Walker founded Better and Company, an online maker and retailer, in 2018 after her husband received a cancer diagnosis. “I noticed there were not a lot of great options for cancer specific cards, and I wanted to create a line that used ‘laughter as medicine,’ which is how we have combat every hurdle so far,” she explained. For Jessica Walker, owner of Better + Co., cancer hit close to home and sparked a small business idea. To spread joy and inspiration with Smartpress’ Greeting Cards, Walker mastered the art of card printing, using direct, unabashed messaging and bright, bold colors that not only perk up patients, but also their families, friends and care teams.
